Your Answers: Why is it important for young people to be politically active?

Young people are increasingly taking an active role in politics, using their voices and platforms to advocate for the issues that they care about the most.

In last week’s episode, we learn about a teenager running for office in Washington state.

We also stopped by a protest organized by college students unhappy there won’t be an early voting site on campus for the midterm elections.

For our write-to-us last week, we wanted you to tell us why you think it is important for young people to be politically active!

Students used our inbox form online or sent us an email to newsdepth@ideastream.org to share their answers.

Dear NewsDepth,
In my opinion young people should be involved with politics. This is because kids are on screens a lot and when they're not they can be bored. Instead, they can help with the community because our world could be a much better place if kids help.

Dear NewsDepth,
I think that it is important to get young people involved in politics because it gives people the chance to get more ideas from different people and it could also make people more encouraged to vote in the future.

Dear NewsDepth,
I think that it is important for people to stand up for themselves because they have a voice and they should put their own opinions to use. They should express their own emotions to relate to others.

Dear NewsDepth,
My dad is an Anderson Township trustee, and I've learned a lot from his campaign. I think young people like me should get to know their leaders and get more involved.
