Seventh grade science students in Mr. Caddey’s class at Bay Middle School are earning this week’s A+ Award for their innovative hydroponic gardening project.
Using nutrient-rich water, grow lights, and hands-on science, the students grow fresh lettuce from seed to harvest—lettuce that’s ultimately served in their school cafeteria.
Along the way, they’re learning not only about plant science and healthy eating, but also about problem-solving, reflection, and perseverance.
