Petting Zoo: Bo the parrot

At the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Bo the sulfur-crested cockatoo parrot serves as a teacher for all ages to learn about the intricacies of life as a parrot!

Bo has learned different behaviors that show off his knowledge, like saying hi, goodbye, whistling, showing off his crest, and showing off his foot! These are teaching tools for learning about bird anatomy and the skills they can gain with their knowledge and brains!

Bo is an ambassador animal for the zoo. Ambassador animals are different animals that get to interact with zoo visitors. Other ambassador animals include giraffes, who are able to be fed lettuce heads by zoo visitors during certain hours.

Bo plays an important role at the zoo to educate people of all ages about animal care and just how smart animals can be.
