Solar panels use power from the sun to generate energy, cutting down on how much electricity we use.
Recycling can be done in many ways to help protect the environment and cut down on waste going to landfills.
And conserving water is an easy way to protect wetlands habitats.
For our write to us last week, we wanted to know: what steps can you take to protect the environment?

Dear NewsDepth,
One step I'd take to protect the environment is not using single use plastics. Some pretty good examples of this are carrying a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, and shopping bags to decrease plastic pollution. Also, plastic doesn't rot like an apple core. One plastic bottle can take 450 years to disappear! One way we could use the three r's Refuse Say "no thank you" to a plastic straw at a restaurant. Reuse Use a metal water bottle instead of buying a new plastic one every day. Recycle if you have to use plastic, make sure it goes in the right bin so it can be turned into something new, like a playground slide or a fleece jacket! That is all!

Dear NewsDepth,
One way we can protect the environment is to pick up trash around your community, for example invite some of your friends to go out and pick some trash from the side road. Another way you can protect the environment is to recycle. On example, if you have a plastic bottle put it into a recycling ben

Dear NewsDepth,
I think some of the steps we can take to protect the environment are recycling more, using less electricity (solar panels/wind turbines) and less water. You can also rip apart the six-pack-rings that hold your soda can together because if you don't some turtles in the ocean mistake them for jellyfish and get their necks and throats stuck in them.

Dear NewsDepth,
I would make a stand and ask everyone on my street if they know what solar panels are, then I would explain to them how it can help our environment. If this works, maybe they can tell their friends and soon, the whole country would be free from pollution. Speaking of pollution, I would also help pick up trash on the beach, because it is my favorite place to go and I hate stepping on trash when I'm trying to do something.
