This week on the show: America’s 250th Anniversary & America’s Pastime- baseball!

It’s the last episode of the season!

We're celebrating the United States of America's 250th birthday!
The city of Marietta played a big role in the birth of the nation.
Some of America's founding fathers were also philosophers and scientists.
Professional baseball – American's pastime - got its start right here in Ohio.

Semiquincentennial (noun): A 250th year anniversary

Philosophy (noun): The study of knowledge

Pastime (noun): A hobby; something people do for fun rather than work

2026 marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence — the moment that created the United States of America.

This American milestone is known as the semiquincentennial.

For our last write-to-us of the season, we’d like you to tell us how you plan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country?

Students can use our inbox form online or send us an email to newsdepth@ideastream.org to join in the celebration!

What’s more American than baseball?

We love everything at the ball park… the home runs, the strikeouts, the peanuts, the hotdogs!

For our last poll or the season, we want to know: What’s your favorite sport?

You can choose between: baseball, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, track and field, or something else.
