The Cleveland Asian Festival was forced to close early Sunday because of overcrowding and high temperatures, organizers said.
Cleveland police told organizers that the crowd and heat had become safety concerns after vendors reported that some of those attending the festival passed out while waiting in lines.
Vendor sales and stage performances were paused around 3:30 p.m. by festival organizers, who said they had hoped the crowds would thin enough to resume the festival. An hour later, organizers said police ordered the event to close about two and a half hours before its scheduled end.
Temperatures in Cleveland on Sunday were in the mid- to upper 80s.
