Six Rocky River High School staff members have been placed on paid administrative leave for allegedly 鈥渟peaking about a student in an inappropriate manner.鈥� 

The Rocky River City School District is working with the Rocky River Police Department on the investigation, but has not released information about the incident.

In a statement released March 23, the district said it is 鈥渇ollowing our Board of Education policy for internal investigations.

鈥淭his includes interviews, review of pertinent materials as well as consideration of any new facts which may come to light. During this process, the district has made the decision to place two additional staff members on administrative leave. Currently, there are six individuals on such leave.鈥�

According to a report by Fox 8鈥檚 investigative team earlier this month, a police report shows the school received a flash drive with a video uploaded to Google Classroom of teachers discussing a female student and inappropriate pictures sent by another teacher.

Rocky River Superintendent Michael Shoaf assured families in a video message posted March 12 that 鈥渁ppropriate action鈥� will be taken if the school system鈥檚 internal investigation shows the staff members violated school policy.  

Shoaf was joined in his video message by Assistant Superintendent Liz Anderson, who said the district is 鈥渃ommitted to providing the highest quality of education for our students in an environment that is safe, secure and free of harassment.鈥�

鈥淥ur students鈥� well-being is our top priority,鈥� Anderson added.

The staff members will stay on paid administrative leave until the investigation is completed.
