Another East Cleveland police officer has been indicted for crimes allegedly committed while on the job.

According to court documents and a statement by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O鈥橫alley, Latasha Moore falsely accused a 23-year-old woman of running over her feet and striking her with a vehicle door.

鈥淥fficer Moore then filed false police reports, hospital records, East Cleveland Municipal Court documents and Workers鈥 Compensation reports with these same claims,鈥 O鈥橫alley wrote. 鈥淭he body camera from the incident directly contradicted Officer Moore鈥檚 claims.鈥

That alleged incident occurred on Jan. 7, 2024.

In an incident nearly a year ago, Moore allegedly used city cameras and is accused of accessing an automatic license plate reader system to locate someone for 鈥減ersonal and/or non-law enforcement purposes.鈥

In September, Moore said that a suspect she was arresting 鈥渟pat on her.鈥 Moore then allegedly assaulted her and filed false police reports. In this incident, Moore did not turn on her body camera but 鈥渨itness statements directly contradicted Officer Moore鈥檚 claims.鈥

A grand jury indicted Moore Thursday for six counts of tampering with records, one count each of telecommunications fraud, unauthorized use of a computer and possessing criminal tools, all felonies.

Moore was also charged with workers鈥 compensation fraud, interfering with civil rights, assault and dereliction of duty.

Moore is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 20.

鈥淚t is my hope that with this new mayoral administration, reforms have been made that will prevent actions like these in the future,鈥 said O鈥橫alley.

In November, Sandra Morgan was elected mayor of East Cleveland. The city has also been placed under receivership by the state of Ohio, giving an appointed receiver vast authority over the city鈥檚 finances and operations.

Between August of 2022 and March of 2023, 16 East Cleveland officers were indicted for crimes committed on the job. . Two police chiefs have left office in the past three years; one following an indictment on tax charges and the other following the release of racist text messages on his phone.

Former mayor Brandon King and multiple city hall officials have also been convicted of corruption-related offenses in the last year.
