Hiccups happen when the diaphragm鈥攁 muscle that helps you breathe鈥攇ets irritated and spasms unexpectedly.
Triggers like eating too fast, swallowing air, drinking fizzy drinks, strong emotions, or sudden temperature changes can cause this spasm.
When it happens, air rushes in quickly and the glottis (a small door in your throat) snaps shut, creating the familiar 鈥渉ic!鈥 sound.
Simple remedies like holding your breath or sipping water slowly can sometimes help stop them.
But what do you think? What are some of your remedies for curing the hiccups?
