NewsDepth 2025-2026 | Episode 28

This week on the show: We celebrate Earth Day at the Cleveland Zoo!

This week on the show:

We tour our local nature centers.
We learn about how the government funds the Cleveland Metroparks.
What are endangered species and how can we help protect them?
And a zoo veterinarian answers your questions about their job.

Endangered (adjective): On the verge of extinction on Earth

Recycling (verb): The process of collecting, processing, and repurposing waste materials, like plastic bottles and scrap paper

Recarbonizing (verb): Taking steps to increase the carbon based matter in the soil to help native plants grow

Solar panels use power from the sun to generate energy, cutting down on how much electricity we use.

Recycling can be done in many ways to help protect the environment and cut down on waste going to landfills.

And conserving water is an easy way to protect wetlands habitats.

For our write to us this week, we’d like to know: what steps can you take to protect the environment?

Students can use our inbox form online or send us an email to newsdepth@ideastream.org to send in their answers.

We visited the zoo this week, but we want to know: What is your favorite animal to visit at the zoo?

You can choose between: monkeys, rhinos, elephants, tigers, giraffes, sea turtles, or a different animal.
