A diverse premiere
Cleveland's Les Délices premieres a new bilingual work that fuses multiple cultures this weekend. The baroque and medieval ensemble is joined by Grammy-winning soprano Estelí Gomez for "Soy la Diosa," celebrating Nicaraguan folklore by composer Gilda Lyons. Parents who grew up with the Children’s Museum of Cleveland can again party like it’s 1999. offers karaoke and Jock Jams alongside turn-of-the-20th-century games such as Twister and Bop-It Friday from 7-10 p.m. This ‘90s throwback also serves up Clinton-era themed snacks for visitors 18 and over.
Coen Brothers on the big screen
If you’ve enjoyed the FX series “Fargo,” see the Coen Brothers’ classic 1996 film where it all began on Friday at 8 p.m. The Nightlight Cinema is . But it’s not at its home in Akron (or Brainerd or Moose Lake). It’s at the Happy Days Lodge in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. On Saturday, presents the Coen Brothers’ next film, 1998’s “The Big Lebowski.” Doors open at 6 p.m. But that’s not just, like, your opinion, man.
Loneliness at Playhouse Square?
This is the final weekend to see “” at Cleveland Play House. The 2024 Pulitzer Prize-winner by Eboni Booth is about a mild-mannered bookstore clerk rebuilding his life. Director Sideeq Heard said the main character’s “journey mirrors the isolation and loneliness many of us have learned to cope with.” Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus 2 p.m. matinees on the weekend.
Celebrate Ramadan
The nonprofit hosts its first Iftar dinner on Saturday night. During Ramadan, it's the evening meal that breaks each day's fast. The event at Dar Al Yeman Restaurant in Cleveland features an authentic Arabic buffet from 6-10 p.m. Diners are encouraged to wear Arabian Nights-themed attire.
