Massillon’s historic highway, Shaker Lakes watercolors and Lakeview Terrace’s arts festival are on this week’s to-do list.

Main Street Massillon

If you wanted to drive across the country in the 1920s, the route you’d take would go right through Downtown Massillon. “” celebrates the historic highway as part of the city’s bicentennial and the country's 250th. The museum is located on the Lincoln Highway, so you can experience the drive before going inside to check out mile markers, promotional tchotchkes, historic postcards and a large, detailed map along one of the gallery walls. The show opens Saturday with a free public reception at 5:30 p.m. and is on view through Oct. 18.

Shaker Lakes watercolors

Another anniversary of note is the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, celebrating 60 years of land conservation in Shaker Heights. Akron painter and Cleveland Institute of Art junior Margaret Berrodin commemorates the Nature Center in her exhibition “.” Inspired by the center’s history of advocacy, each of Berrodin's six watercolors depict a different decade. The show is on view until the end of the year at the Nature Center, located along South Park Boulevard.

Yes they CAN

The apartment community Lakeview Terrace spotlights the talents of its children with a new arts festival for the whole family. “” features spoken word, dance and music performances along with food and artmaking. Presented by , Cleveland Public Theatre’s art education initiative, along with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, the free festival is Friday, 2:30-5 p.m., at the Lakeview Terrace Community Center on West 25th Street.

Exit to the avant-garde

Northeast Ohio is filled with first-rate classical music groups of all shapes, sizes and sounds. One of the most intriguing is the No Exit New Music Ensemble known for debuting contemporary classical works. No Exit closes its season this weekend with a world premiere featuring award-winning Philadelphia vocalist Anika Kildegaard. Her performances are described as somewhere between Baroque and grunge. The concerts are . All shows are at 7 p.m.

‘Old Time Rock & Roll’

Every Tuesday night this summer through August, Mentor rocks out to a playlist of greatest hits with a series of tribute bands taking the stage at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater. Spotlighting beloved groups like REO Speedwagon, Fleetwood Mac and the late Ozzy Osbourne, has concerts for a variety of fan bases. The free series kicks off Tuesday with the music of the Ramblin' Gamblin' Man Bob Seger at 7 p.m.
