The Sound of Ideas Community Tour: Education in Warrensville Heights

Usually, a 鈥淒鈥 on a report card would be cause for concern, but for the Warrensville Heights School District, it showed progress.

The once-failing district narrowly avoided a state takeover last fall by raising its state report card mark from 鈥淔鈥 to 鈥淒.鈥  And this month, it saw even more overall improvement, earning a 鈥淐.鈥

What are they doing that other districts aren鈥檛? Other urban districts like Lorain, Youngstown and East Cleveland all are under state control after multiple fails.

On the fifth stop of The Sound of Ideas Community Tour, hosted by Mike McIntyre, we engaged in an interactive conversation with the school superintendent, community leaders and residents about the challenges facing inner-ring school districts like Warrensville Heights and what it takes to avoid a failing grade. It was held at the Warrensville Heights Branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library.
