Artificial Intelligence Use Embraced by Cleveland Clinic
Generative Artificial Intelligence isn't just about asking ChatGPT to draw you as a cartoon character or draft an email that you'd rather not write yourself. AI has made its way into the medical field, and the Cleveland Clinic is embracing it in many ways, including helping doctors detect sepsis sooner, matching patients to clinical trials, and finding news uses for existing medications, to name a few.
People understandably have concerns about its use, though, so we're talking through those on Thursday's episode of the "Sound of Ideas," as we continue with our newsroom-wide, week-long reporting project, 精东影业 Explores: Artificial Intelligence.

Northeast Ohio's Role in Women's Fight for Voting Rights
The musical, "SUFFS," is running now on the Playhouse Square stage in Cleveland, through Feb. 22. It's an entertaining historical interpretation of the final years of the American women's suffrage movement, which lead to the 19th Amendment, and ultimately recognizing women's right to vote.
The story in "SUFFS" starts in 1913 shortly before the first organized march for women's suffrage where Inez Milholland rode a white horse down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., leading thousands of women demanding the right to vote. It ends after Tennessee ratified the 19th Amendment in 1920, but as history shows, the law is bendable, and even longstanding precedent is not a predictor for maintaining equal rights.
On Thursday's episode of the "Sound of Ideas," we'll talk with one of the actors from "SUFFS" who portrays real-life suffrage leader Milholland in the show. We'll also learn about Ohio's role in the suffrage movement, and some of the challenges with voting access today.
Guests:
- Jen Miller, Executive Director, League of Women Voters of Ohio
- Monica Tulia Ramirez, Actor portraying Inez Milholland, "SUFFS" The Musical
