Garden Season Kicks Off
For Northeast Ohio gardeners, the planting season often begins after the last frost, which in Cleveland is expected around April 14 this year, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. And cool-weather crops like asparagus, cabbage, kale, spinach and radishes are already in season, based on the Ohio Farm Bureau.
As more people dig into gardening, many are also looking at ways to make their yards more sustainable. Native plants, which are adapted to local conditions, typically require less water and maintenance, while also supporting pollinators, birds and other wildlife.
Monday on the "Sound of Ideas," we鈥檒l talk to some area green thumbs about how to best care for your garden this year.
opens for the season on May 1. It is located at 15006 Westropp Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
