Indigenous combination
Two exhibitions revealing the beauty and complexity of Indigenous art go on view this month in Cleveland鈥檚 University Circle district. The Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (moCa) hosts experimental artist Sky Hopinka, who uses photography, video and calligrams 鈥 where words are displayed in visual patterns - to explore Indigenous history and culture in the exhibit 鈥溾 through August 2. Meanwhile, nearby at the Cleveland Museum of Art is the first exhibit featuring CMA鈥檚 collection of Native American prints and drawings, 鈥,鈥 through June 7.

An effort is afoot to establish an arts and culture hub in Mahoning County by a group of area artists under the moniker of . The end game is to purchase its own building someday, but in the meantime the group celebrates the artists of the area with its inaugural online exhibition 鈥.鈥 The juried show includes photographs, drawings, poetry, watercolors and the endearing video ode 鈥淐olumbiana, According to Bob.鈥 Meet some of the artists on Sunday at the show鈥檚 reception starting at 3 p.m. at West Side Bowl in Youngstown on Mahoning Avenue.
Inclusive art for all
GiGi鈥檚 Playhouse in Canton is an uplifting space for those with Down syndrome by providing access to the arts. In partnership with The Workshops Inc. (TWi) for people with developmental disabilities, a youth art program was created to connect kids in an inclusive and collaborative setting. After three months of creative sessions, the artistic participants show off their work at the in the exhibition 鈥淭he Art of Inclusion鈥 through May 10.
